In the June Democratic Primary voters in Fairfax County will vote for

  • Lt. Governor
  • Attorney General

November 4 General Election

In the November General Election voters in Fairfax County will vote for

  • Governor 
  • Lt. Governor 
  • Attorney General 
  • House of Delegates – There are 15 members of the House of Delegates that represent part of Fairfax County. Where you live determines your candidate.
  • Local elections for Mayor and Town Council in the Towns of Clifton and Vienna.

Who Can Vote in the June 17
Democratic Primary

Any person who is registered to vote in Virginia can vote in the Democratic Primary. In Virginia you do not register with a political party. A voter can vote in the Democratic Primary or the Republican primary, but not in both primaries.

Check below to ensure you are registered. You have until May 27 to register to vote or update registration and cast a ballot normally.

We encourage you to register NOW, but from May 28 to June 17 same-day registration will be available with a provisional ballot. We’ll post more details at that time.

Who can vote in the November 4
General Election

Any person who is registered to vote in Virginia can vote in the General Election.

You can check below to ensure you are registered. We encourage you to register NOW. 

You will have until October to register and even have opportunities for same day registration after till election day. The specific dates will be announced by the Board of Elections later this year and we’ll post more details at that time.

How do I vote?

Voting is more accessible and secure than ever. There are three ways to vote: Early, By Mail, and on Election Day. Select any of the options below to learn more about the options to cast your ballot.

In-Person

The most convenient option to cast your vote. 

No-excuse early voting is available starting Friday, May 2nd till June 14th at three locations. 

Thirteen additional locations open from June 7th to June 14th.

A Fairfax voter can vote at any of these locations.

 

Vote Early
by Mail

You can request a ballot to be mailed directly to you. Your request must be made by 5PM on June 6th.

After completing the ballot, you can return it by mail (we recommend allowing 2 weeks for delivery of your completed ballot), return it at any early voting location on or before June 14th, or return it to any voting location on June 17th.

Vote on
Election Day

Vote at your designated* polling location between the hours of 6am and 7pm on Election Day, June 17th.

*Designated – On election day you can ONLY vote at your designated polling location. This is different than with early voting and returning your vote by mail ballot when you can go to any voting location in Fairfax County. 

This will be your last opportunity to cast your vote.

  • Friday, September 20thEarly Voting Begins

    Early voting begins at 3 locations, the Fairfax County Government Center, Mt. Vernon Governmental Center and North County Governmental Center.

    Vote by Mail ballots are mailed out on this date.

  • Tuesday, October 15thVoter Registration Deadline

    Register to vote or update your registration by 5pm to be eligible to vote.

    Same-day registration and a provisional vote from 10/16 to Election Day for those that miss 10/15 deadline.

  • Thursday, October 17Satellite early voting locations open

    An additional 13 early voting locations will be available.

  • Friday, October 25thDeadline to Request to Vote by Mail

    Request an absentee ballot to be mailed to you by 5pm.

  • Saturday, November 2ndLast Day to Vote Early

    Last day to vote at any of the available early voting locations.

  • Tuesday, November 5thTuesday, November 5, 2024 General and Special Elections

    Polls open 6am to 7pm. Vote at your regular polling location.

    All offices will be on the ballot.
